Its suction may be a bit weaker than the suction of our top picks, but it's still able to get the job completed. It has a big dust bin and a durable battery. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent robot with an impressive array of features for automation. The Roborock S7 MaxV comes in three different versions: the basic S7 model, the S7 Plus model, and the S7 Ultra. The S7 MaxV Ultra is the only one equipped with an Empty Wash Fillet Dock (or an alternative Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its home base, empty the collected debris into a dust bag or reservoir, empty the dirty water tank, and wash its mopping pads.
Sensors on the S7 collaborate to clean and avoid obstacles. It can identify floor types and save a floor map for rooms and zones. It even detects dirt levels. It's also capable of scheduling and executing spot cleaning sessions. It did well in our tests, but it wasn't able to quite match the iRobot Roomba j7+ in the carpet deep clean test.
Utilizing the companion app, you can program the S7 to perform a cleaning cycle in accordance with your schedule. You can choose a time either day or week as well as choose from a variety of cleaning options, such as automatic, eco, and deep clean. You can also select whether the robot will stop when its power runs out or if it encounters an obstruction.

The IQ XL is able to connect to your WiFi at home which allows you to keep track of its progress on cleaning from the Shark app. The app lets you program cleaning schedules, get notifications via push about its current status it is in, and pause and resume cleaning, or set it to a single room. You can also control it using voice commands via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app will inform you what the current power mode is which is Eco Normal, Maximum, or Normal - but we found that none of these settings made any significant improvement in the performance of cleaning.
The IQ XL will automatically empty the dustbin at the end of each cleaning cycle into the base, which will automatically empty itself. The bin can store up to 60 days of debris, meaning it won't be required to empty it more than once unless your pets have hair that is long. If you do have to empty it, all you need to do is untie the side bin, hold it up to a trash can and then press a button to eject its contents.
The Shark IQ XL is a good vacuum cleaner. It does a decent job of cleaning floors with no dust and can move well. However it's not the best choice for carpeted floors. Shark IQ XL feels a bit less sturdy than the Roomba 694. It does a good job of cleaning carpeted floors but doesn't match the iRobot Roomba i7 in terms of the performance of bare floors. The i7 is also better-built and feels more durable and sturdy, has less maintenance requirements, incurs lower recurring costs, charges faster while offering comparable battery performance, and comes with much more advanced automation features such as no-go zones and the ability to choose specific rooms for a clean.
iRobot j7+
This robot vac and mop combination is a rare find that does both jobs well. IRobot's Combo J7+ comes with all the advantages of its j7 counterpart, including self-emptying and LiDAR mapping but also includes additional features for mopping and vacuuming.
The j7+ uses the latest acoustic sensor to detect the type of floor, so that it can clean or mop the area during its initial pass. It also uses this info to prioritize cleaning rooms with carpets and rugs over those with hard floors.
As with most robotic vacuums the j7+ is relatively quiet while it's running. It's quieter when mopping. Its maximum reading on our decibel meter was 64db which is similar to the noise of general office chatter.
It is easy to set up a cleaning schedule and alter what happens when the dust canister gets full. The j7+ can also be controlled by voice assistants (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc.) to allow hands-free operation. the app lets you create and explore maps of your home.
The j7+ performed admirably in our tests of both hard and carpeted floors, getting rid of most of the dirt that we threw its way. It isn't able to deal dealing with pet hair, large pieces of debris and sand. But it can clean them with more effort. It has excellent navigational skills and two cliff sensors to stop it from falling down the stairs or getting caught on furniture legs.
The j7+ has a few minor flaws, for instance, it could get caught on cords or rugs and doesn't always switch off the mopping feature when it is done vacuuming. This is a great model that ticks off all the boxes.
iRobot's j7+ also has one of the best self-emptying systems we've tested. It deposits its 14oz / 0.4-liter dust canister into the base station, where it automatically empties itself for you to. This reduces the amount of trash you have to dispose of. You'll only need to replace the dust disposal bag on the dock every 60 days, based on how frequently you use the j7+.
